Strawberry Dessert Burrito with Minted Orange Sauce

This delicious recipe is so quick to make and the Grand Marnier infused sauce goes beautifully with this dessert burrito recipe. The filling for the dessert burritos is a simple combination of strawberries and sugar. Another way of making a dessert burrito recipe would be to use instant vanilla pudding or strawberry pudding as well as the sliced strawberries. If you do that, then you probably will not want to serve the whipped cream on the side because the dessert will be creamy already.

The sauce for this strawberry dessert burrito recipe is a mouthwatering combination of orange juice, strawberries, mint and Grand Marnier. You can use frozen or canned strawberries for the sauce, if you like, since they are going to be pureed but you should use fresh strawberries in the burritos for a better flavor and texture.

This is a light and fruity recipe, which is perfect in the spring or summer and makes a refreshing end to any kind of meal. You can serve this after a Mexican dinner or another cuisine and it will go just as well. Use ten inch diameter tortillas for big, filling burritos or six inch ones (and not so many strawberries) for lighter ones. The combination of cold burritos and warm sauce is really mouthwatering and you can use a few mint leaves as garnish. If you like, you can mince the mint leaves and sprinkle them around the outer edge of the plate but that is up to you.

Burrito con Fresas

Ingredients -

4 big flour tortillas
1 cup powdered sugar
1 lb fresh strawberries
3 cups whipped cream
¼ cup white sugar
8 fresh mint leaves, for garnish

For the Sauce:

Juice of 2 oranges
½ pint strawberries
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier
1 tablespoon lemon juice
5 fresh mint leaves, finely chopped

Preparation:

Rinse the strawberries, then hull and slice them.

Stir them with the white sugar in a bowl and leave them for an hour or until the sugar has drawn the juices out.

Wipe the tortillas with a damp cloth, and then sprinkle the powdered sugar over them.

Flip them over and repeat this on the other side.

Arrange the strawberries in the tortilla and roll them up, tucking the ends in so they resemble burritos.

Heat the orange juice, then a tiny bit of lemon juice.

Puree the strawberries and strain them. Stir this into the warm orange juice with the Grand Marnier.

Taste and add more lemon juice if necessary.

Drizzle this over the burritos and serve the whipped cream on the side.

Garnish each burrito and dollop of whipped cream with a fresh mint leaf.
