This rich and luxuriant Kahlua chocolate mousse is so simple to make and the flavor is delicious. You simply need to whip the ingredients together to make it. This dessert is for adults only because of the Kahlua. Kahlua is a coffee flavored Mexican liqueur, which can be served with milk or cream or alone over ice. It is also a great ingredient for making Mexican dessert recipes like a Kahlua mousse pie recipe or Kahlua chocolate mousse because it gives the dessert a rich coffee flavor. In the following mousse recipe, the Kahlua is combined with cream, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and sugar. The mixture is beaten until it is stiff, to make a light, airy and velvety mousse.
If you are looking for something simple to make yet elegant enough for a dinner party, this "mus de Kahlua" is sure to impress your guests with its rich and sumptuous flavor and light, fluffy texture. The hint of vanilla, which is optional but well worth adding, enhances both the coffee and chocolate flavors and the grated chocolate on top is the ideal garnish. You can use semisweet chocolate or Mexican chocolate, as you wish.
This mousse keeps well in the refrigerator for a couple of hours so if you want to make it in advance you can do that. You can also serve it as soon as it is made, since the ingredients will be chilled anyway. Feel free to alter the garnish if you fancy. Whipped cream with a dusting of cinnamon would make a nice garnish or even some vanilla ice cream on top with chocolate syrup. If you are going to serve something like that, it is best to divide this dessert into eight portions because it is already rich and filling. Then you will have two portions to enjoy the next day!
